Bail Bond Tips
Consumer tips
Deal ONLY with a licensed bail agent. Ask
to see the bail agent's license and identification prior to any bail
transaction.
You should only be charged the legal
premium (typically 10%). Additional charges should be itemized and
explained to your satisfaction.
Ask for an itemized receipt for all charges
and extra fee's.
Ask for copies of all signed contracts and
agreements.
If financing is provided, take time to read
and understand the terms the agreement prior to signing. Remember even if
the charges are dropped in the early stages of the case you will still
need to complete all the premium payments.
You are not only paying for the bond, but
you are also paying for service. The bail agent will should be available
for questions or concerns even after the bail bond has been posted. The
bail agent will be able to assist you in obtaining a release or
exoneration of the bond, once the case is over. usually within 30 days you
should receive your collateral back.
